Other happenings of the day

I felt that the story of the house deserved its own post and so I started it soon after the old owners left. It took me a while to complete (had to save and come back) because, well, I've been busy with other things. What other things? Glad you asked. Well, Scout actually decided to nap for more than 10 minutes at a time today, so I got some digi scrapping done. Not so much done as worked on. I created this today

Made the framing myself. I'm thinking about making several frames like that in different colors and trying to figure out how to share them as templates. More on that later I am sure. If anyone reads this and knows how, please share with me! The idea is to put a picture from her 1st birthday in the center and complete the other months. I may add a few little embellishments when it's all done, but I want it to stay simple.

Anywho, I also somehow managed to burn my right hand pretty badly while making dinner. Notice I didn't say cooking. I said making. I put some chicken and okra in the deep fryer for us. Somehow, while opening it, the steam burned the crap out of my hand. I mean, this was 4 hours ago and it still feels like it is on fire. I've tried cold water, ice, aloe... all of it helps for about 5 minutes and then it burns again. So now I am putting aloe on it and when it starts to burn again I am running cold water on it for a while. Then when it starts again using aloe... and so on and so forth.

Here is my poor hand tonight

The burn kept me from putting Scout to bed for the first time in her life. I was trying to feed her (I'm breastfeeding for anyone who doesn't know) and it was just too much. She has a "crazy arm" while she feeds and I can usually hold her hand, but tonight, that hurt. Also, she was fighting sleep and kicking and it wasn't helping that every time my hand came into contact with - well, anything - I was jerking and holding back screams. If you've ever tried to put a baby down to sleep you know this isn't ideal. So, for the first time ever, I asked Michael for help getting her down. He tried to give her a bottle (she had eaten some and wasn't too hungry). Then he rocked her, wrapped her up, and put her down. She didn't go to sleep immediately, but I was impressed with how well they both did. Our friends put her down one night when they babysat for us, but she didn't stay asleep longer than an hour. As of right now, she's been asleep for nearly two, so we are pretty much out of the danger zone there.

That's all for now. Hoping tomorrow won't be quite so interesting! LOL!

I am so sorry about your hand!!! OUCH! If you find a good balsam conditioner you can put it in your burn and it will take the sting away. I learned that in cosmetology school and it worked for me. I am not sure if the brand makes a difference. I have used both Treseme and Scruples They both worked very well.

Hope it heals quickly.

Oh no! I'm sorry about your hand too hon. I know how to make your frame into a template. What program do you use for your digi-graphics? Do you have different options for how to save things? What you would need to do is make the frame one solid color, with nothing else (just empty space) on the image... then save it as a png file. Then you can "pour" other designs/ papers/ colors onto it later to make it look like you want. I think it's neat! Maybe we need to borrow it for Avery's pages (whenever I make any).

Owie! I sure hope your hand is better now.

When I got a steam burn in college, the only thing that really helped it was to keep it wrapped in gauze to filter the air hitting it.
