Sept 13-14, 2010

Well, my internet has been spotty the last few days. Last night it would come on for a few minutes and then turn off again. It made for a very frustrating night!

Monday:

Nothing special going on today. I took pictures of flowers around our garden before I went to get the girls. I know the girls are cuter, but this was a nice change of pace. :-)

Tonight Scout decided that she didn't want to go to bed. She's been having some difficulty, so I let her stay up about 30 minutes late to see if it helped. It didn't. I went up to her room no less than 5 times to put her back in bed and pick up whatever toys she dragged out. I got fed up when I saw that she had pulled all of Dylan's stuffed animals and her blanket out from between the slats of her crib. I asked her if she wanted me to take all of her animals and her blanket and told her that if she didn't stay in bed and stay quiet, that's what I would do. I was mean. She went to sleep.

Tuesday:

The weatherman said we had a 10% chance of rain today. As I drove home from work, the skies got darker and darker. When I got home and got out of my car, I could smell the coming rain. I went upstairs to change and heard the first clap of thunder. I hurried down to try and get all of the animals fed but when I went out to get the big dogs' bowl, the rain went from drizzle to downpour! Poor Deebo and Dakota had to wait until later. I usually leave the house between 5:45 and 5:50 to get the girls... it was still pouring. So I braced myself and scampered out to the car. I drove to the daycare (about a mile away) and swam inside. Seriously. I parked right next to an enormous puddle and thought I might fall in. I gathered the girls and their things and waited in the front room with a couple of other parents to see if the rain would let up. After 5 or 10 minutes, we all decided to just make a run for it. I didn't want the girls to walk, so I carried Dylan out to the car, got her strapped in, and then went back for Scout. After repeating this process backwards to get them in the house, we were all soaking wet!

Tonight Scout started her battle of wills again. We talked before I put her down (at her normal time) and she agreed to stay in bed. I made it downstairs and into the kitchen to get a drink before I heard her little feet running across her room. I went upstairs and told her to lay down in her bed and if she didn't, I would take away her cuppy. I've been trying to phase cuppy out, anyway. They have started leaking and making a mess in her bed. She said okay and I went back downstairs. Within 5 minutes she was running around playing again. She took Dylan's blanket again. I went upstairs and took cuppy. I told her that if I had to come back again, I would take blue bear. She cried for a few minutes, but I didn't hear her running around again, and soon, she started singing. Then, sweet silence. I hope that's the last time I have to go through that with her. I'm sure it won't be. I just hate being mean!

glad you won the "Staying in bed" battle, I hope it will be the last one too for you. I so know what you mean about "you hate being mean" but we would be mean mummy's if we left the kids without any boundaries...
You have some lovely flowers in your garden!
Take care
